Corporate Worship is: The Gathering of God’s people centered on the Word of God for the Worship of God.
The Gathering of God’s People:
A church by definition and essence requires a gathering of God’s people.
Ekklesia, the Greek word we translate as church, actually means “an assembly.” See Acts 19:32, 39, and 41 for usage of the word meaning a general, non-church assembly, so church must contain an assembly component. (1 Corinthians 11:18)
We cannot be the body of Christ without meeting together, hearing the Word together, worshipping together. We must gather together. (see Hebrews 10:24-25)
Centered on God’s Word: As J. Ligon Duncan writes, “Read the Bible, preach the Bible, pray the Bible, sing the Bible, and see the Bible.”
Worship of God: Corporate Worship is for God, therefore He decides what is acceptable in worship. Only through Jesus can any of us offer acceptable worship to God.
Primary purpose is for believers to carry out their God-given purpose...to Worship Him.
