Community Ministry
Hello Calvary family,

I am tremendously excited about the role God has afforded me to direct community ministries here at Calvary. The inroads God has given us to influence this community for Christ and the gospel are here, but we must be faithful to travel down them. I want you to know that our mission as a body extends beyond ourselves and into our community and is vital to the health of this body. We want you to be involved and engaged and be instruments in all God is doing here in our city.  Please be aware there are many opportunities for you to connect in what God desires to accomplish (His name be known) in our own backyard.

One of the places God has given us inroads is Dothan Preparatory Academy. As the school year approaches, we want you to be mindful of the opportunities to be involved at Dothan Prep. These opportunities include FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), 1-on-1 mentoring and tutoring, and team chaplains (character coaches for various teams). We want to continue investing in the lives of the students in our community and this is just one of the many places and opportunities God has given us to flesh out our faith.

In addition to our participation at Dothan Prep, Camp R.O.C.K. (Reaching Our Community Kids) gets started in September. This is Calvary’s after school program for community kids, many of which attend Girard Elementary. Please be in prayer for those who have graciously given their time to invest in the lives of these students. If you would like to volunteer to be a mentor, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Anne. We would be more than happy to pair you up to make a difference for the sake of the gospel in the life of a child.

Please continue to pray for me as I adjust to my role here. I need God’s wisdom and not my own as well as His leading and directing. My desire and prayer is for Christ to be made much of in this community through the lives of His people here at Calvary.

In Christ,
Tommy Perry
