THAT'S DIFFERENT…
Okay, you received it much faster in the newly designed format and the quality online is excellent. Do you like the weekly mailout using this superior method over the old-fashioned snail mail? Once again, we thank the Lord God Almighty for Caren Coleson and her dedicated labor of love that she would not allow to be done with any sloppy look because communication from this campus to your home is extremely valuable. Would you like to hear an accurate cost estimate? In the past, we were out a rather conservative amount of nearly, drum roll, $30,000 per year. We believe that this new method will run around $3,600 annually plus lots and lots of hours of human labor savings. We have now recouped in the neighborhood of $26,000 savings annually while you receive the finished product by no later than Wednesday afternoon instead of mail delivery Friday or Saturday. Welcome to another change for the better.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE…
Starting in September, we will be sending out at least ten three-person teams on Sunday afternoons or Wednesday evenings for a short assignment of ten weeks. They will quickly follow-up on recent guests, prospects, absentee members and to scan assigned neighborhoods to attempt surveys seeking to contact and invite nonchurch attenders. All training will happen in the vehicle to and from the face-to-face contacts. We want to renew our focus passion on both inreach and outreach. We will soon be recruiting and signing up dear, dedicated folks who are willing to be used by Jehovah Jirah on the frontlines of ministry as Calvary's Road Warriors. After serving a ten-week term, you can skip the next ten weeks or two of the originals can join together, recruit a third and continue forward. Our assignments will help propel the whole loving, united family forward in frontline ministry. We are not seeking one hundred out weekly but we do believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that sixty is a reasonable goal and that will make a wonderful impact in our usual high manner.
DIFFERENT CHALLENGE…
One of the really major assignments we have been given is to display our faithful love and service to love exactly who Yahweh loves. You have indeed stepped forward in a high manner to put your arms and hearts around the "ROC kids" and the precious children from the Tree Top apartments. There is zero doubt that the Father has given us a new test in embracing the children from Laurel Oaks institution. These have lost nearly all innocence at too early an age with numerous forms of abuse and neglect. Plans are already underway to help provide weekly Bible studies, arts/crafts, recreation, clothes, snacks, and gladly presenting the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. A sidenote is that we want to also love and encourage stressful employees who need a fresh support system. Keep praying and have a willing heart when all the details are made public.
Your pastor,
Van
FUN FACTS…
Our attitude can help all of us reach a new altitude spiritually. VG

New Mission
I do believe that God is opening a door for us to do frontline ministry. The students at Laurel Oaks need some Christian love. God has given this church the resources to step through another door of ministry. We are forming a team to engage this ministry. Our format will be very similar to VBS. We need people who will tell the Bible story, some to lead in worship and praise, some to help with recreation and some to help with a craft. If you want to be at a place where you will see God at work, then join our team. We will have training. Do not let inexperience stop you. Do not let fear stop you. I will be going with the team to add support. If you are interested in finding out more, let Heather or myself know by calling the Church Office, 792-5159, or by emailing me at edwright@calvarydothan.com.
One of the practical ways that we are going to help is by gathering slightly used clothing. We need clothes for young male students in first through sixth grades. We will need boys clothes for middle school and high school ages. We need female clothingfor middle school and high school ages. We will be collecting the clothes for the next three weeks. Bring them to the Dogwood Room in the Church Office.

Praise God for a new place to serve.

Music Ministry

I am so grateful for each of our Celebration Choir, Celebration Wind Ensemble, Instrumentalists and Technical Arts Team that made our God and Country service so special. These people gave sacrificially in preparing and then sharing in such a dynamic way in both services. Thank you to each of you and we pray that God will continue to bless and use each of you.
