V.B.S. 2010…
As one walks the hallways of our beautiful facility, the sound is deafening. If you will concentrate, you can clearly see it. What exactly are we hearing and seeing? It is rather difficult to really narrow down to one word or short phrase, but it seems to me to be "the sound of silence" and "the effect of emptiness." Just one short week ago we were covered with beautiful/handsome, smiling, joyful faces that were singing, jumping, celebrating and learning and covered nearly every room in all of our buildings. The energy level was awesome as around nine hundred souls gathered to learn about the love of the Lord God Almighty. Traveling everywhere at this address was anointed teaching because folks had powerfully prayed and were daily lifting up holy hands to our Father as the love of the Lord Jesus Christ was clearly told as well as shown constantly. We came from a whole lot of different addresses but gathered as one big loving family to embrace one another unconditionally. Yes, we played, sang, joked, learned and experienced great joy as our fellowship embraced our common bond of our Creator to open the Bible and learn how to be more faithful, better disciples. A whole lot of preparation took place before and during this too short, significant week that will indeed make a radical, eternal difference.
Yes, our fellow laborers gave not only very valuable time but also gave over and over again their minds, hearts, talents, souls, strength, heads, arms and feet to help make Jehovah Jirah look really good! The age span was totally awesome from the youngest volunteer (I believe was seventeen) to the oldest (around 80) to help make a real difference. We had men as well as women and for that we are grateful. It takes a whole boat load of cash to financially fund the expenses of the week but obviously it was money well spent.
Do you hear Yahweh speaking to you personally the highest compliment, "Well done thou good and faithful servant?" Our whole paid team bonded together to contribute but a special word of praise to Charles Uptain for visionary equipping leadership and to Joyce Alexander for her upbeat spirit of inspiring individuals to serve with such grace. Your pastor's heart is filled with gratitude and believes that you are the absolute best. Not anyone had more fun that I did this past fruitful week. Thanks also to Patty Farrington for overcoming ear difficulties to daily lead our precious senior saints.
Was it worth the whole effort? We recorded twenty-nine wonderful individuals who made first-time decisions to accept the Savior as their own personal Lord. WOW!
Right now it is both hot and humid outside and we have teams of volunteers out in four different locations each morning this week taking our faith "on the road" doing Backyard Bible Clubs to children who might not ever step foot on our beautiful campus but still need to hear the good news of God's unconditional love. Pray as they close out the week strong and extend the invitation to join born again believers.
Our student mission trip from several years ago to Arlington, Texas, where a whole host of dear folks lovingly minister to over four thousand strong to help make an eternal difference, continues to burn our souls to love who Yahweh loves.
I dearly love this whole church family and am so very proud of your open hearts, hands and heads to accept, embrace and touch ALL!
Your pastor,
Van
FUN FACTS…
The heart of the matter is a matter of the heart.

C.O.M.E.

Missions!
It is a joy this week to work along side 29-30 students who are doing Backyard Bible Clubs in different parts of the city. They are learning how to give of themselves and how to love others. I am so thankful for the fellow staff members who share a great desire to reach “just one more.” Please pray that the seeds that are planted will produce fruit in the future.
Many of you remember Wade and Amy Arthur. I was talking with Wade this last week and he tells me that it will not be long before they are appointed by our International Mission Board to serve overseas. They are going to a very sensitive area and need your prayers. Would you write them on your prayer list?
Our summer mission trips are approaching. Please remember our teams that are going to New York City, Haiti, and Guatemala.

Music Ministry

This is a big weekend in the life of the Bradford family. We are so excited about the wedding celebration of Allison and Joseph. Your outpouring of love has been overwhelming. Thank you for being such a loving and caring family. Thank you for celebrating this great time with us. Thank you for the prayer support that you give to us daily. We are blessed beyond measure because of you!
We hope that you will join us on Saturday for the time of worship and celebration. We are seeking to honor and exalt the Lord and celebrate what He is joining together. It will be an honor to have you here as a part of that time.
Thank you again for being such a wonderful family and we will see you Saturday!

VBS Praise Report
First off, WOW! Adults, you are awesome! I am not sure how to tell you thank you. You all gave so much and I believe it meant so much to the children at VBS last week. Secondly, WOW! God did some great work. We know of at least 29 professions of faith during the week and we keep hearing parents and grandparents tell us how much the week meant to their family. In conclusion, WOW! Thank you, church family, for having a vision to reach out to our community with the love of Christ.
