Will Graham Celebration
Since 1950, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has held Crusades all across the globe for one purpose: to proclaim God’s love to people who need Jesus Christ. Today, Will Graham Celebrations continue this life-changing mission. A Celebration is not just an evangelistic event; it is a process of prayer, training, outreach, and follow-up that takes place over a 12-month period—and it begins and ends with you, the local church.
It consists of four services located at the Dothan Civic Center May 5-7.
Friday Night for Adults/Families beginning at 7:00 pm
Saturday Morning KidzFest for Elementary Aged Children from 10:30 am - noon
Saturday Night for Youth beginning at 7:00 pm
Sunday Afternoon for Adults/Families beginning at 4:00 pm

From Our Music Pastor
By: Steve Chambers

The mission of God for the local church is to take the message of reconciliation to God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every person. We at Calvary have made that our priority. Disciple making, world missions and church planting has been at the core of our strategy in accomplishing that mission.
Two years ago, Pastor Paul committed to the North American Mission board that Calvary would move from being a “supporting” church that partners with other churches and church planters to being a “sending” church that takes responsibility for the entire process of birthing and sustaining a new work.
We contacted every city missionary in each of the 32 “SEND” cities to explore the needs, challenges and opportunities to be a part of reaching those cities for Christ in an effort to discern where God is leading us. One of the steps in this process was looking at where we already had connections and a relationship. We have sent mission teams to Mott Haven, New York for the past 15 or so years. So, since there was already a relationship with the city we sent a team to New York in 2016 to interview existing planters, missionaries and NAMB representatives. We could see in the faces and hear in the stories and needs of those on the ground in one of the most strategic cities in the world the Macedonian call…”Come over here and help us.”
In October of last year Pastor Paul and I attended a NAMB sending lab for churches preparing to become a “sending” church. In those two days we were challenged and excited to hear what God is doing through churches planting churches and the opportunity for Calvary to be a part. During one “aha” moment as we listened to the president of NAMB, Dr. Kevin Ezell say: “Now when you commit to sending out planters don’t be surprised if God begins to call out some of your leadership to be on the front lines”. Hmm….there’s the rub….
Over the past couple of years Toni and I have been wrestling with God over church planting. When we first went on the Calvary mission trip in 2013 to NYC we both felt a huge burden for the City. We went back the next year and took our children, and the love and burden for the people of New York only grew. We did not think it would be us to go, but that we would possibly be a liaison for others to plant. Last year when we returned from our “scouting” trip to New York with the team from Calvary we both knew that we needed to commit to prayer the possibility of God using our family to be that church planting family that Calvary sends to New York City. We were invited by NAMB to be assessed in New York City in March of this year. We went for a week to be evaluated by the NAMB New York Missionaries and assessment teams. Pastor Paul was also invited as a sending church representative and walked through the process with us.
NAMB endorsed us as church planters to New York City. So, our family is saying “Here are we, send us” and I am surrendering to the call to step out in faith and be the Pastor of Calvary’s Church plant in New York City – a new community of everyday missionaries who make disciples for the glory of God and the good of the city.
The plan is to relocate our family to New York City in the fall of this year. We will have several gatherings to communicate vision, plans and answer questions in the coming days and weeks. Please keep us in your prayers and our leadership here at Calvary as we prepare to plant a church in one of the most influential, strategic, and lost cities in the world.
Steve Chambers
“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
Acts 20:24
