From Our Senior Pastor
By: Paul Thompson

In our kick-off to 2017 message series, “REPlanted”, we asked ourselves this question: If you and your family, maybe with a few close friends, were called, sent, and fully funded to go to another country and establish the gospel — to start a church and see people come to faith in Jesus — what would you immediately begin to do? What would your life consist of? How would you be with the people there?
This question was not so much about going to another field to be a missionary, but about recommitting ourselves to the mission field around us that God has already given us. It is about being Everyday Missionaries.
So, we answered that question in 3 ways:
First, we’d make sure we clearly understood our mission and purpose. We’d know why we are here and how that affects everything. We’d know that making disciples is not a mission of the church – it is the mission. And we would guard that mission zealously.
Second, we’d discover the real needs of our community and serve its hurts with the love of Christ. In so doing, we’d show the gospel and earn the right to share the gospel.
And third, we’d actively, intentionally, strategically share the Good News of the Kingdom of God with the people all around us. I hope you remember the terms we discussed: penetration and saturation. Penetration refers to the ongoing, primary means by which disciples are – and have always been – made. It’s the person-to-person, life-on-life relationships that believers make with friends, neighbors, co-workers, teammates, classmates, etc. that enable them to penetrate the lostness in the community with the gospel. It’s about the daily rhythms of life and simply getting out there where the people are who aren’t coming to us. It’s the Church being the church where we go, work, play, and live. It is not a program or an event, it is a lifestyle born out of genuine biblical discipleship. And it’s normal* Christianity. (Normal as in biblical, not as in the typical, run-of-the-mill, watered down version that’s common today).
We also talked about saturation, however. In our series, we learned of the alarming reality that as many as 70% of pour immediate neighbors of Calvary are unchurched or “de-churched”. Right in the shadow of our steeple and programs is a mission field. To be a missionary people and missional church, we need to saturate this area with gospel witness! That means a contact with every home in our immediate area. That means special evangelistic events like neighborhood block parties, VBS visitation, and other special events. It also means simply getting out into our immediate neighborhood in masse and re-introducing ourselves to our neighbors. To that end, we are beginning Operation Saturation on Sunday, March 19th! Immediately after our 10:30 am worship gathering, we will have lunch together in the Fellowship Center, receive a few brief directions, and go out in pairs and triplets around the vicinity of the church in an attempt to re-connect with our backyard mission field. We’ll go with a simple survey format that will hopefully allow you to meet – and possibly allow you to witness to – our Calvary neighbors. We’ll explain this very basic and simple strategy over lunch on the 19th. The bottom line is this: Everyone can do this and we need as many people as possible to go out together for maximum saturation! So, come dressed comfortably on that Sunday and be prepared to make much of Jesus with us!
For His Glory alone,
Pastor Paul

Will Graham Celebration - Dothan

What is it?
Since 1950, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has held Crusades all across the globe for one purpose: to proclaim God’s love to people who need Jesus Christ. Today, Will Graham Celebrations continue this life-changing mission. A Celebration is not just an evangelistic event; it is a process of prayer, training, outreach, and follow-up that takes place over a 12-month period—and it begins and ends with you, the local church.
It usually consists of four services:
Friday Night for Adults/Families
Saturday Morning KidzFest for Elementary Aged Children
