From Our Senior Pastor
By: Paul Thompson

“We need to have a family meeting.”
How many of you remember your dad or mom using those words? (How many of you have used the same with your family?) When there is something serious to talk about that affects all the people in the family, we will get everybody in the living room, family room or around the table and I’ll call for a family meeting. Sometimes, it’s because something weighty needs to be addressed. Sometimes the purpose of the meeting is to make a big decision. Sometimes, it’s because a big announcement needs to be made that everyone needs to hear together.
Well … I’m calling us all together on Sunday September 11 for a Calvary Family Meeting. As a “family of everyday missionaries who make disciples”, there are some important things we need to hear together and a BIG announcement we want to share with all the Calvary family. And just like many families do, we’ll do it after we’ve shared a meal together! So, please make plans to join us right after the 10:30 service of worship in the Fellowship Center for a meal together followed by a special presentation/challenge from the staff. What we have to share is good news, not bad, and we do hope/pray that it will affect not only our congregation, but our families, schools, and city. For those of you who cannot attend, we will record the meeting so that you may view it later.
Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
Pastor Paul

Calvary's English as a Second Language Class
By: Amanda Trammell

Did you know about Calvary’s English as a Second Language Class?
For many years Calvary has reached out to those who need development of English language skills.
Three levels of classes are offered: beginner, intermediate and advanced, along with friendship, respect and a reflection of God’s love in action. There is also an International Life Group that meets each Sunday. Many of the English as a Second Language students attend both. This is a mission outreach that impacts whole families!
The English as a Second language classes will restart in January 2017 and will meet on Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 pm.
There is an immediate need for teachers, substitute teachers, greeters, nursery workers to keep babies and toddlers in a nearby classroom, and those who can get the word out about the program to bring in new students.
To volunteer or for more information, call Louise Garrett, 334-702-8631, or Carol Knight, 334-547-3121.
