How To Study Your Bible
By: Amanda Trammell

How to Study Your Bible
Want to get more out of your Bible Study? Join us in the Fellowship Center Saturday, August 6 to learn from experienced inductive Bible study teacher, David Lawson!
9:00 am-How To Get More Out of Your Bible Study
10:15 am- How To Study the Word In Order To Teach the Word
No registration required to come to the class. Childcare available for babies-5th grade by registration. Must register for childcare by Wednesday, August 3. Find more information about the class and the teacher inside this newsletter.
These short Saturday morning seminars are here to help you understand and apply the Word in a simple, straightforward way.
First, we will show you some easy inductive Bible study techniques that will give you confidence as you read the Word and help you remember it in order to apply it to your life. The second half of the morning we will look at moving from personal Bible study to a teaching outline. Our goal will be to shorten your personal preparation time and help you create text driven outlines to teach. These will help you effectively connect your audience to the Scriptures.
David and his wife, BJ, have had one continuing passion since they became Christians in 1980, to make disciples who make disciples. David has been a police officer in both the military and with the Atlanta PD, a pastor, a youth pastor, an author, and a conference speaker both nationally and internationally. For twenty-eight years David and BJ’s ministry was associated with Precept Ministries International. Both David and BJ traveled the world with Precept Ministries International training people to study the Bible for themselves. Recently, David has joined ministry with Hope and Help International. There, his focus is training and equipping young pastors in rural South Asia to effectively reach their culture.

Calvary 20/20 Team Update
We wanted to give you an update on our work. Our team has begun meeting every other week to discuss and flesh out a strategic planning process called Church Unique. The hope of our team is to not so much follow a plan or program, but use the process of Church Unique to bring clarity to God’s intended future for Calvary Baptist Church.
We think it is important that you know what we are not. We are not an uber committee that will super-cede the authority, the responsibility, or the accountability of all other groups or committees. We are not the ears of the congregation listening for preferences or complaints to pass along to leadership. And we are not the typical long range planning committee that would try to assess the future needs of our church.
At the end of this process, we hope to challenge the church with a renewed clarity of God’s unique call on us as his church. We hope to assist every church member in learning and being able to articulate:
1. What we do at Calvary.
2. Why we do it.
3. How we do it.
4. When we are successful at it.
5. And Ultimately Where God is taking us.
Please pray for us as we meet…to learn together, pray together, and ultimately unite around this framework.
If you would like to talk with any of us about the process or encourage us in this task, we welcome the dialogue.
Thank you,
Charles Uptain
Consistent Generosity
We have been challenged in the past to be a generous church, and we have stepped up to challenges in the forms of seasonal missions offering totaling $167,317, and filling ministry roles throughout the community. In light of these short term “wins,” How can you improve your consistency in your generosity? Can you find an area of service in the church where you give your talents every week? Can you give an hour every week to sit across from another believer and study the Bible together? On the financial end, would you set up a recurring contribution to the church through online giving or the Calvary app? Consistency is a sign of priority. Will you prioritize your generosity as you reflect on the generosity of God shown in the Gospel?
