Spring Life Group Leadership Summit
We will have a Spring Life Group Leadership Summit on Sunday, March 29 at 6:00 pm in the Fellowship Center for Life Group leaders and spouses. Dinner is included. The Summit will replace the regular Life Group Leaders’ meeting for both March and April. Please make every effort to join us for this vitally important gathering on the subject of “What Is the Church For?” We will specifically deal with the responsibility of Life Groups in Calvary’s disciple-making process and the essential role of Life Group Leaders in the same. Please also include any additional leaders from your Life Group (substitute teachers, leaders you are apprenticing, care group leaders, etc.) Please contact Angie in the church office to sign up.

From Our Senior Pastor
By: Paul Thompson

As March begins, there is so much I want to share with you, Calvary Family. I’d love to stick with one “theme” for this letter, but there are so many particular things I want to convey, that I’ll have to just hit on each of them briefly.
Firstly, the first of this month marks our 3rd year together as pastor and people. I appreciate the opportunity I have enjoyed these past few years to serve you as pastor and I look forward to what God has planned for us. And while all the transitions and changes in these past three years have not been smooth or easy (for you or me), I do emphatically believe we are moving in a God-honoring, biblically-driven, Christ-exalting direction and that the church will emerge through this period healthy, vibrant, and increasingly effective at the God-assigned task of making disciples for His glory. We still have a ways to go in terms of unity and harmony, and even shared vision and philosophy, but I believe good things are happening in us as a people and through us for the sake of our city and beyond. I encourage you to commit to daily prayer for your church and for God’s will to be done through you in it. I humbly ask that you would pray for me often that I too may know and do God’s will and be faithful and strong in it.
Secondly, I strongly encourage you to participate with us on this month’s Second Sunday Night Service (March 8, 6pm) as we worship together with the good folks of Dothan Community Church. Many of you were present at the evening of worship and the forum on racial reconciliation that we hosted last month. Many people have asked, “What’s next?”, or “Where do we go from here?” All along, Pastor Lewis and I knew that we wanted have the other preach in our pulpits, but we decided that DCC just does not have the space to accommodate us if as many show up as we hope will. So, on March 8th, DCC will be hosting us in our Fellowship Center! They will lead the worship through singing, and I will be preaching the message, “In Sync With the Gospel”. I sincerely hope you will make every effort to be part of this multi ethnic service as we join together with our brothers and sisters in Christ in this city to lift up the name of Jesus.
Thirdly, if you are a Life Group Leader (or a substitute, apprentice, occasional, or future Life Group Leader), please do not miss our Spring Life Group Leadership Summit on March 29th at 6pm in the Fellowship Center. All leaders and their spouses will enjoy dinner together and then you will hear a presentation of our “What’s the Church For?” strategy. I cannot tell you how important this gathering is for the health and future of our congregation. For some time now, we have been learning and building towards this strategy. On Sunday night, March 29th, you will see how all the pieces fit together to accomplish the task God has assigned us. (Note that there will be no 3rd Sunday afternoon Life Group Leader meeting in March or April).
Finally, please pray for me as I will be attending a critically important annual gathering of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention in Nashville at the end of the month. The 2015 ERLC Leadership Summit will address “The Gospel and Racial Reconciliation” to equip Christians to apply the gospel on these issues with convictional kindness in their communities, their families, and their churches. This is an area I have become increasingly convicted over and convinced that we need to address for the sake of our city and for the cause of the Gospel. Pray that my two days there will be well spent and beneficial to me, our church, and our city, and most of all for the Kingdom.
Pastor Paul

VBS Volunteers Needed
By: Michael Brooks

VBS Volunteer Sign-up
VBS is right around the corner and as always we will need enthusiastic, wise, and encouraging teachers and aids to see that Calvary’s VBS is all that God desires for it to be. If this person sounds like you, or was you last year please contact Michael, Brooke, or Joyce in the church office and let them know where you would like to serve. VBS this year is going to be a great experience for everyone involved! We hope and pray you join us in this effort.

Secret Church Simulcast with David Platt

Secret Church Simulcast with David Platt
Friday, April 24
Christ, Culture, and a Call to Action
6 pm-12 midnight
Fellowship Center
Cost for book: $5.00
Call the church office to sign up.
The culture around us is constantly changing, and successive changes are often accompanied by significant challenges. So how does the call of Christ compel us to respond to these challenges? How does a Christian respond to the rapid rise of so-called same-sex marriage and the increasing acceptance of homosexuality? How does a Christian live in a world of sex slavery and rampant pornography, a world where babies are aborted and widows are abandoned? How does a Christian think in a culture of pervasive racial prejudice and limited religious liberty? What does a Christian do in a church that exalts prosperity amidst a world of extreme poverty? During this Secret Church, we will explore biblical foundations for answers to these questions and come to significant conclusions regarding how Christ calls every Christian to engage culture with a firm grip on the gospel in the church and a fervent passion for God’s glory in the world.
