From the Senior Pastor
By: Paul Thompson

Every day the headlines seem to read like the fulfillment of biblical prophecy: wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, political upheaval, and of course Israel embattled and under the attack of a relentless enemy. Are we finally reaching the end of days? Are we - as Jesus prophesied - feeling the increasing intensity and frequency of birth pangs that portend the return of Jesus?
In spite of how out of control the worlds politics, economy, and morality seem to be, God remains in control. He has given us a Revelation of what is to come. As we understand and trust this Word, we can face an uncertain (to us) future with the sure confidence and sweet assurance that God will work out everything in conformity to His will. (Eph. 1:11). He will accomplish His plans and fulfill His purposes.
If you want to know what the Revelation of God has to say to us in these unprecedented times, plan to join us for “Soon: The Revelation of Jesus Christ” during Midweek at Calvary beginning on Wednesday, August 20th at 6pm in the Sanctuary.
I also want to invite you to join us for our Midweek Fellowship Meal at 5pm in the Fellowship Center. Besides good food and fellowship with Christian friends, this weekly meal also affords us a great opportunity to invite the unchurched, connect with newcomers, and engage in life-on-life conversations for the sake of making disciples.
I look forward to seeing you on August 20th!
Paul A. Thompson

We are looking for people that would be willing to go to Girard Middle School on November 19, 2014, February 25 and May 13, 2015 from 7:45 am-8:15 am and speak to a class of 7th or 8th grade students. You would be asked to tell the students about your job and/or your lives and what it took to get where you are right now. The majority of students need a role model, and we think you would be a great one! We’re looking for all kinds of people to volunteer; you don’t have to have a job that requires a college degree! Please contact Anne at anne@calvarydothan.com as soon as possible if you would be willing to participate in this ministry to our community children at Girard Middle School.

Winshape Recap
By: Michael Brooks

Winshape Recap
Winshape was an extraordinary week, and I hope for all of the children that attended it was the best week of their summer. Beyond the high energy activities, music, and games were the most important times of the day, worship and small groups. Throughout the week the Winshape volunteers, Calvary’s student volunteers, and various pastors and staff spent quality time depositing spiritual truths into the lives of children. Roughly two hours everyday was given over to these important conversations and teaching moments. More importantly, on Wednesday afternoon several children had questions and follow-up conversations about salvation, baptism, and what it means to follow Christ. The daily average attendance at Winshape this year was 150 and everyone of these children heard the gospel. Praise God!!!
